        The 1850 Census of Bibb Co. shows Yancey D. Atchison age 42, living in the E. C. River area.  He has listed as his wife Jane R. age 31, born in Alabama.  Below them are listed:  Nancy age 16, Newton, age 14, Lucy age 13, Martha age 12, Jackson age 11, Laura A. age 9, Charlotte age 7, William age 6 and Jane age 4.  Yancey had earlier been married to Susannah Gibson and the first five children are believed to be from that marriage.  Susannah probably died during or after the birth of Jackson.

        The 1860 Census of Talladega Co. shows Y.D. Atchison age 51, living in the Southern Division of Talladega County, Post Office Fayetteville.

Jane is age 40, Laura, age 15, Charlotte, age 13, William Yancey, age 12.  On the next page is listed Jackson Atchison, age 20 as a laborer, Jane age 10, James, age 9, Edmund age 7, Malvina age 4, Pickens B. age 3 and Margaret age 8/12.  The 1860 Census of Bibb Co. lists James Atchison as living in E.C. River with his wife, Margaret and child Columbus.

Note:  Yancy Atchison may be buried at Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery but he is more likely buried in a cemetery that is on the former Atchison land.  Jesse Rae Willette remembers playing near a cemetery when she was a child.  It only had a few stones and was near a creek.  I haven't been able to visit this area and think it may be difficult to find although I think I have an idea where it may be. Direction to Atchison Cemetery according to Cemeteries of Chilton, page 273:

From Maplesville State 22 east to ST 191 left turn for about 5.0 miles, left turn on dirt road.  Follow this road about 1.25 miles to crossing of creek.  Cemetery in woods on right about 1100 feet. Surveyed by Frank and T.A. Brown, Benjamin D. Roberts on May 4, 1989, Cemetery overgrown, no graves located.

Note: NEW INFORMATION-There are plans for several of the Atchison descendants to visit this cemetery in early February 2005. We have found a former IP employee who knows exactly where the cemetery is.
