Sylvester loved to hunt raccoons, rabbits,
possums and turkey. He used to tell a story about killing seven turkeys with a
single shot. He said they were all sitting on the same branch and he hit the
limb and shot off their toes.
Sylvester remained tall and thin throughout his
life and in later years he had white hair and a long white beard.
Their farmland was near Verbena in Chilton Co.
AL. Sylvester farmed for a living and bought his first sheep through mail-order
and was one of the few farmers in the county who tried raising sheep.

Sylvester loved to hunt raccoons, rabbits,
possums and turkey. He used to tell a story about killing seven turkeys with a
single shot. He said they were all sitting on the same branch and he hit the
limb and shot off their toes.
Sylvester remained tall and thin throughout his
life and in later years he had white hair and a long white beard.
Their farmland was near Verbena in Chilton Co.
AL. Sylvester farmed for a living and bought his first sheep through mail-order
and was one of the few farmers in the county who tried raising sheep.

was first named in 1868, Baker County. (Her Husband Ruben, was the Son of James

Moats, she married George Samuel Easterling 12-21-1892, and to them was born 5
children. Mr. Easterling died July 23, 1903. She married Mr. Hiram[sic] W.
Lawley in 1907 and to them 2 Children were born. He died several years ago.
She died 10-23-1932, burial Walnut Creek.

heldon Friday, June 27, at the New Harmony Holiness Church in Clanton at 2 p.m.
with the ReverendsPerry Cleckler and Roger Moates officiating. Burial was held
at the New Harmony Holiness Cemetery with the Martin Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Chilton County on October 25, 1911 to the late John
Baker and Luraine Franklin Baker. She died at the Vaughan Regional Medical
Center in Clanton on June 25, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Reynolds
Pierce, Clanton; three sons and a daughter, Cecil Smitherman, Joel L.
Smitherman, A. J. Smitherman and Carolyn Hathcock, all of Clanton; 15
grandchildren and14 great-grandchildren.
