He was born in Coosa County in 1861 and moved to the area of Providence Beat 16 when he was 2 years old. He died on his 55th wedding Anniversary. He married Miss Lizzie Bathes Jan. 10, 1882. He was a Blacksmith by trade and worked in Wetumpka and at Verbena a few years before he returned to Beat 16. He was the Son of Jonathan and Rutha Eiland Callaway.

Harris. 5 Grandchildren, 2 Sisters, Mrs. H.A. Harris and Mrs. Joseph McDowell, 3 Brothers, Cooley Eiland of Linden, Ala. and Dr. Robert J. Eiland of Coopers, and Bollen Eiland of Birmingham. She was the Widow of the Late Jim D. Harris who died several years ago. She was the Daughter of John Jefferson and Rachel Farr Eiland.
