James Davenport came to Alabama in 1818 and was one of twenty persons that founded the Mulberry Baptist Church in Bibb County near Maplesville. That portion of Bibb County later became a part of Chilton County on December 30, 1868.
The minutes of the church from 1818 to 1853 have been lost or destroyed, but the original minutes of the church beginning with March of 1853 are on microfilm at Samford University in Birmingham.

Franklin in Beat 9 near Pleasant Grove Church April 16. Burial was at Pleasant Grove No. 1. No relative survives. She was the Daughter of William Davenport who was a Pioneer Settler who married Elminia Campbell of This area. Her Mother died at the birth of this Daughter and her Father died many years ago.
