170.  "Clanton Press," No longer in print, page 1, Thursday, January 11, 1917, Judge Deason will deliver the keys of the Probate Judge's office to his successor on next Monday.  He has been a great Judge for old Chilton, and his many friends will regret very much to see him out of office.  The judge has only served one term and would not enter the race to succeed himself.  He believes that Chilton county has many men who would make good as Probate Judge, therefore, in his campaign six years ago, he promised not to be a candidate to succeed himself and he has lived up to his promise.  The Judge has been very active in his support ofall the progressive measures for the betterment of every interest of Chilton county and her citizens. He has stood with the majority of the Court in the prosecution of those measures looking to the betterment of the farmers and the education of the boys and girls of the county.  Many of his friends have called at his office during the last few days and expressed their thanks for his many favors rendered them during his incumbency and also their regret that he is not going to be their servant any longer in this capacity.  The Judge is yet a young man and we do not know what he is going to do, but it is the wish of the Press and his many friends that success may attend his efforts, in whatever business or profession he may engage.

171.  "Clanton Press," No longer in print, Thursday, March 8, 1917, Judge E. B. Deason received a telegram last Saturday conveying the sad intelligence that his brother, Mr. H.L. Deason, had been instantly killed in an automoblie accident at Sapulpa, Okla.  Judge Deason and Mr. A.W. Powell, a half brother, left on the afternoon train for Sapulpa, where the funeral was held Monday.  "Fayette" as he was best known by his many friends in Chilton county, was born and reared in this county and before going West nearly twenty years ago reside at Kincheon.  He was well known in Chilton and had many friends and admirers who will greatly deplore his tragic end. For the past several years he has held a responsible positon with a railroad company in the Oklahoma city.  Mr. Deason was about 40 years of age, and is survived by a widow and two children.
