1.  OBEDIAH¹ VINSON was born about 1780 in SC, and died between 1860 - 1870.  He married ANNA/ANNIE COLESBY SMITH after 1811, daughter of COLBY SMITH and ANNA HENRY.  She was born 1785 in NC, and died about 1876.

Annie Smith Vinson is the mother of Ellafair Vinson Yates, wife of Samuel Yates.  I remembered a resource about Annie and Obediah Vinson. In 1909, Rev. George Washington Smith wrote a book on the first 50 years of the Mount Vernon Baptist Association located in primarily Washington County, Ga.  This Association was formed and had as its first moderator Rev. Isaac Smith, brother to Annie Smith.  Sketches were written about church's pastors and deacons of the first fifty years.  One was written about Rev. James Raifford Wood, Son of Annie Smith by her first marriage to Thomas Wood, who died in 1811 It is listed in this sketch that Annie Smith Wood married Obediah Vinson and with her two daughters from her first marriage with their husbands, James Allen and Curtis Dupree, moved to AL.  There she died in 1876 at an advanced age.  The two daughters were Sarah and Nancy.  I think maybe Annie and Obediah's son John H. might have died before they came to AL in 1837.  Another son, maybe Obediah stayed in Clarke County, Ga and married.  Their son Solomen came to AL with them.  Their daughter Ellafair married Samuel Yates and their son Elijah Jerome was four years old when they came to AL.  I'M guessing on Obediah and Annie having a son named Obediah.  There is a land listing of an Obediah getting 644 acres of land in Autauga County, AL in 1855.  Annie's Obediah would have been 65-70 years old then.  Also, the person you gave me, Wardlow, said her Obediah was born in Texas in 1857. She said this one's father was born in AL and his mother in GA.  Annie Smith Vinson was born in NC and her Obediah was born in Ga or SC.  Maybe we can all put our research caps on for this one.  Thanks for your time and please let me hear from you, Dess D.
